A classic 1955 Dodge, with a Howe fire truck body, on display in historic Yorktown, Virginia.
This truck was originally placed in service by the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety. Through a community-wide effort called Project 55, this truck was lovingly restored and continues to proudly serve the department and the county's citizens.
I made this image by combining photographs varying in exposure by five f/stops, using a process call High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography. This permitted me to retain detail throughout the lightest to darkest tones in the scene. This range of tones far exceeds what can be captured in a single image, but our eyes and brain work together to allow us to see deep into shadows and appreciate the highlights. The truck sported a rich, deep paint job. I used Topaz Adjust to accentuate accentuate the red, giving it a three dimensional feel in this two dimensional photographic representation.
